Diagnostics of a household refrigerator

Diagnostics is one of the most difficult sciences in repairing household appliances. Because it very much depends on the number of repairs or the experience of the technician. The more options for the development of an event (probable diagnoses), the higher the diagnostic accuracy. Plus, each diagnosis has its own probability coefficient relative to general statistics. In simple terms, more work needs to be done to make diagnoses more reliable and correct.

Diagnostics of household appliances

If we talk about diagnostics of household appliances, then each appliance has its own basics and principles. So, for example, for washing machines, an important factor is the time scale of the washing cycle, in relation to which the peripheral devices (drain pump, heating element, etc.) operate.

Diagnostics of refrigerators

In household refrigerators, the main factor is not time, as is the case in washing machines, but temperature, i.e. we take into account two compartments (freezer and refrigerator) and the temperatures at the beginning of the condenser and at the end. For a better understanding of the processes taking place, you need to return to the principle of operation of the refrigerator and study all the points in more detail again.

If there are two compressors in the refrigerator, which is now becoming less and less common, since this marketing ploy, together with the No Frost system or inverter compressor and other tricks, are gradually disappearing into oblivion, since the lifespan of each new function is very short. It is better to measure temperatures not with a contact IR thermometer, but with a simple weather station or any thermometer with an NTC sensor. But at the same time, it is necessary to ensure the tightest possible contact between the sensor and the temperature control point. And at the same time, you need to remember that measurements are taken on a refrigerator that has worked for at least 1-2 grids and the temperature regime has reached its working position.

A working refrigerator works according to the data in the table, but it is worth noting that different models may have different temperatures (capacity, type of refrigerant, design features), and they are for informational purposes only.

Malfunctions and diagnostics

Complete refrigerant leak - as a rule, there is no change in temperature, i.e. At all points the temperature is room temperature, or it differs by several degrees. Most often, this indicates a serious breakdown of pipelines and such a leak is much easier to find than a minor (partial) one.

A Partial refrigerant leak is when the piping has very little damage and the refrigerant is escaping very slowly. There have been cases when a refrigerator using R600 refrigerant could operate for one year after refilling, i.e., with a refill rate of 45 g, and a leak of 10-20%, we can conclude that the leak is 5-10 g. per year, which is almost impossible to find by soaping.

Clogged capillary tube is a very common problem on Atlant refrigerators (2003-2008 edition) using R134 refrigerant. Unfortunately for users, this plant made minor shortcuts, which led to a large number of refrigerators with a similar diagnosis, which looks like clogged blood vessels with cholesterol or cholesterol plaques. I will tell you about the method of eliminating it in the last lesson.

There are cases of failure of the compressor piston group when it pumps, but does not give full pressure. Diagnosed only by monometer.
